M. Mara-Ann is a long-form writing coach and editor that helps experts write their non-fiction books. She is the author of several books, publisher of an online journal, artistic director for a variety of multi-media projects, and has worked in the commercial media sector as a project manager, executive producer, and technical design director for many years. Mara’s background includes both the arts and sciences, as well as graduate work in writing and poetics at New College of California, and she holds an MFA in creative writing from Mills College. Through her combined work in the fine arts and commercial media sectors, she has honed her expertise as a skilled collaborator, attentive manager, insightful coach, and talented writer to guided many projects across the finish line. Writing a book is like any other long, involved project where focus and time management are core elements. One of Mara’s key strengths is her ability to manage the macro and micro, as well as the creative and organizational aspects of writing a book, to keep it on track and moving along for completion. She provides just the right combination of support, guidance, and structure to help plan, write, finalize, and publish a book. Her areas of focus include environment, health, technology, and culture, and she has worked with a broad range of experts from designers to chefs to performing artists to scientists in developing their own works.
