My goal is to provide you with the support and guidance you need to write your book. I can tailor a unique plan especially for you and your project, depending on your needs.
Researcher
Relative to the nature of your book, you may want to reference some other experts in your field. If you need assistance finding those experts and their works, generating citations, or simply compiling raw material to source for your book, I can assist you with this. Or if you already have a stack of books by experts you admire and want to draw upon them for your book, I can review their works and compile easy to assimilate notes for your manuscript.
Co-writer
If you like to write, but could use some support moving through the draft, I can work with you as a co-writer. We can pass the draft back and forth between us as much as necessary, and I can easily shift or modify my input as needed. I can also guide you in maintaining your manuscript’s distinctive style and flow to maintain clarity and coherence. In the end, it’s your work with me collaboratively cheering you on along the way and helping you successfully write your book. My contribution is considered a work-for-hire, so you own the entire book.
Writing Coach
I love writing, and I love to help writers write. We can schedule a series of one-on-one online or in-person meetings at intervals that support your writing schedule to check in on your progress, providing thoughtful recommendations, and troubleshoot any problems you may have encountered. Sometimes, just having another person to brainstorm with or bounce ideas off gives momentum to a project and pushes through blockages. As a writing coach, my aim is to give you the support, feedback, and goal setting to successfully complete your book.
Project Manager
A book, like any extended project, benefits from a project plan to identify milestones and map out the overall scope and timeline. We can discuss your goals and develop a plan that meets your needs, one that is realistic and places you on a manageable path towards completing your book. I am a big advocate of creating a framework within which you can be highly creative, and a project plan is exactly this. Once it’s in place, you can focus on the creative aspects of writing and know that you’ve set yourself up for success.
Editor
A second perspective is always helpful when drafting a manuscript. As a developmental editor, I can work with you to shape the overall structure of your book and make sure your manuscript is cohesive. As opposed to a copy editor or proofreader, which focuses more on grammar and spelling, I can assist you in organizing your content to maintain the structural flow and narrative arch while sustaining your vision and voice. My ultimate goal is to guide you from initial draft to finalized manuscript, so that your book is polished and ready for publication.
